CELEBRATING THE SACRAMENTS AT ST. THERESE
Infants and children under the age of six are welcomed to the Sacrament of Baptism provided that at least one parent is committed to be a practicing Catholic and to raise her/his children as a Catholic. Baptisms are not celebrated during Lent except in emergencies.
Parents should first introduce themselves to the Pastor after Mass if you do not already know him personally. You should then contact the parish office and arrange to attend the Baptismal Preparation class. It is appropriate to begin this process before the child has been born but parents are welcome to inquire at any time. Children age six and above are prepared for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children which includes Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Arrangements for this process may be made with the parish office.
Adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The first step in this process is to have a conversation with the pastor or pastoral associate. Persons who have been baptized already in another Christian tradition are not re-baptized but are received into the Catholic Church with the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist after making a Profession of Faith.
